语料库是语言研究与教学的重要基础,是编写词典、语法书和教材的重要源泉。语料库语言学一般被认为是20世纪60年代初期发展起来的一门新兴的语言学分支学科。40年来,英语语料库语言学的研究取得了巨大的进展,国内外出现了众多各种类型的英语语料库,对英语语言教学、研究和理论探索等产生了深远的影响。本文回顾了英语语料库及语料库语言学的研究,特别是英语语料库的设计与创建,并对英语语料库语言学的发展趋势作了展望。

A corpus is a very important basis for language teaching and research. It is also a very important source of information for compilation of dictionaries, grammar books and teaching materials. Corpus linguistics is generally believed to gain the status of a new branch of linguistics in early 1960s. In the last forty years, great progress has been made in the study of English corpus linguistics. Many corpora of different varieties have been compiled and set up at home and abroad. The establishment of corpora has exerted a far-reaching impact on the English language teaching, research and theoretical explorations and so on. This paper reviews the development of English corpora and corpus linguistics, especially the design and compilation of corpora. It also attempts to make predictions regarding the trends of English corpus linguistics.
